I understand her reasons, because in fact the way of life for many in the Dominican Republic is pretty hard. But I believe that if you work hard, towards what you really want, that’s when you achieve the real “American dream”, regardless of where you live or where you’re from. Moving to America won’t solve anybody’s troubles and hardships. This country is like any other, the only difference is that this one has been labeled as the country of the immigrants, where everybody can come and be successful; where everybody can work towards financial stability, security, a lovely house in a good neighborhood, 2.5 children, good education for those children, etc. I had all that back in the Dominican Republic and my family and I left it in hope of a better, secure, and prosperous life.
