want to go to Downtown, Toronto so the people are taking this route increases each day. Even the people who are used to take streetcars and buses are now taking this route because they can get to Downtown Toronto without getting stricken in the traffic. As the day goes the people who used this route grew larger and larger. This causes disturbances to the inhabitants that live there.
These animals are disturbed by the noises of the vehicles and the peaceful environment that they lived is disturbed and polluted. The happiness of the wildlife in Mineexa has been lost forever when the highway 306 was built. To show awareness to the public, the University of Toronto Arts faculty students decided to paint a rainbow in the tunnel which leads to the highway 306. They chose to paint a rainbow because it is symbolic figure for this issue. Rainbows form in the early morning or in the evening and these is the rush hours where this route to the highway is fully blocked with traffic. Another reason for choosing a rainbow is that it has bright colours and it will catch the drivers’ attention and will make the drivers to read the message that they planned to write above the painting. The messages are as follow “drive slowly”, “watch out for wildlife” “Save the lives of the animals” “avoid unnecessarily taking this route to Highway 306” etc. The next day in the New paper I saw an article about Toronto Mayor, John Troy appreciated the initiative of those students and congratulated them. They also fund raised ten thousand dollars which they give to the Toronto wildlife centre to protect the animals throughout the
Canada. This is not only one of the forests that are affected by the construction of the highways there are many of them. Building a highway destroys the forest and the lives of the inhabitant, if this pattern continues, we have the nothing to hand in back to our future generation. We are not paying much attention to these social issues, but without solving this issue there is no future. After understanding this issue thoroughly I also participated in the community program to raise awareness about the forests that has been affected by the construction of the highway.
