Section IV
In your answer you will be assessed on how well you:
• demonstrate knowledge and understanding relevant to the question
• apply relevant business case study/studies and contemporary business issues
• communicate using relevant business terminology and concepts
• present a sustained, logical and cohesive response
1. demonstrate knowledge and understanding relevant to the question
You must answer the question. Highlight the Key Process Verb (see back cover of your textbook for a full list of examples and definitions) that requires answering and then think about the information that is necessary. The sample business report question asks the writer to ANALYSE (draw out and relate implications). The writer has concluded each paragraph with a sentence analysing the immediate situation and has then written a concluding paragraph summing up the analysis.
2. apply relevant business case study/studies and contemporary business issues
a) The question will not refer specifically to the need to include case study material but it is ESSENTIAL.
b) You need to provide specific, accurate and relevant examples for the case study under each heading. Do not spend too much time defining terms or outlining theory. This is best done by referring specifically to examples from your case study. See sample answer which does this very effectively.
c) Your case study for marketing is Coca-Cola Amatil (not TCCC).
d) You must refer to contemporary business issues in your response. These have been highlighted in the sample answer. These will often come from the influences section of the syllabus. 3. communicate using relevant business terminology and concepts
a) Use the concepts from the syllabus to structure your response.
b) Use as much business terminology that comes directly from the syllabus as possible. The business terms have been highlighted in the sample answer.
