Equality is ensuring individuals or groups of individuals are treated fairly and equally and no less favourably than others. Equality is about the rights of the learners to attend and participate regardless of age, sex, race, gender reassignment, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marriage/civil partnership and pregnancy /maternity. Diversity is about recognising and being tolerant of different views which individual people have, in terms of cultural backgrounds and different lifestyle choices relating to any characteristics they may have. A diverse society is what we have as every individual has a different culture, belief and life experience to the next. A con that has raised much concern about the use of inclusion within the classroom is that teachers are not properly trained nor receive adequate support to teach a student with a disability. With teachers already struggling to provide appropriate education for students without disabilities due to rigorous standards and mounting pressure to perform, with such a large burden it becomes unrealistic for teachers to provide the attention needed and deserved for disabled students within a regular education classroom. The teacher will have had to undergone some form of training in inclusive education so that they are aware of the responsibilities and how to implement teaching in such an environment. Teachers need to be empowered in Inclusive Education. To do this successfully they will have to have the correct attitude not only to the teaching style but also to the diverse learners they will encounter on a daily basis in their class. Teachers will have to set examples and lead other to raise awareness and accept that people are all different and some face more challenges than others and that they need extra support and help. We as teachers need to build onto the curriculum.
