The General responsibilities of the RA on duty are to make sure buildings are in order, making sure there are no violations, no safety concerns, and to make sure that there is nothing out of the ordinary. The RA is on duty from 8:45pm until 8:00am the next morning. During rounds, the RA must walk through the halls to keep an eye out for anything that is not normal. Additionally, during this time, the RA should also be aware of the duty phone and answer any calls from residents. Even if the RA is not on rounds, they still have to be in charge of fire drills. There is one fire drill a month and the RA’s will sign up for either team A or team B. Each RA will be assigned different tasks; someone will pull the alarm and someone will knock on doors. If you are an RA on duty you will be the keyer since you have the keys already for rounds, but you still have to do your set after the fire drill.
