HRM Introduction
Human Resource Management is the element within a work place that oversees general interactions with the workforce based on the interest of each individual employee, as well as the greater benefit of the company as a whole.
The functions of Human Resource Management begin with understanding the needs of the business and tranfuses those goals to selecting and maintaining a well adjusted and productive team of employees. Those primary fucntions are staffing, training and development, motivation and maintenance. (DeCenzo, D., & Robbins, S. 2007) Human Resources is involved with recruiting and filtering applicants in the staffinging function to providing adequate knowledge for the newly hired to properly fullfill their position. Continuing to guide employees through the development stage, with the oversight of management, HRM assists to improve the company's workforce into a well oiled machine. The remaining primary functions of Human Resource Management, motivation and maintenance, in my opinion; are the most sensitive as well as rewarding to the entire work place. By encouraging team work and recognizing achievement, motivating employees drives them to put forth their best efforts and leads to longevity. Once an employee has developed a stable and positive role, maintaining that status is critical to production and the sustainment of the work place. It is very important the HRM department keep retention rates high, thus reducing turn over rates and building a strong and steady workforce. From the top to the bottom, functions of Human Resource Management nurture every role from applicant to long-term pillars of workflow.
The basic tools of a successful Management parrallel to the primary functions of Human Resource Management. The first primary function of HRM is Staffing; the first primary function of Management is planning. Now in both preperatory phases, the basic idea of fore-sight is prelevant.
