Sex trafficking involves individuals profiting from the sexual exploitation of others and has severe physical and psychological consequences for its victims. Although anyone can become a victim of trafficking, it predominately affects women and children. Human sex trafficking violates women and children’s basic human rights, including the right to freedom from slavery and slavery-like practices; the right to equal protection under the law; the right to freedom from discrimination based on race, nationality, and gender; and the rights to life, security of person and freedom from torture. Governments also violate trafficked persons’ rights when they fail to prevent sex trafficking, prosecute perpetrators or provide trafficked persons with effective remedies for these violations, such as access to courts and legal immigration status. Human sex trafficking results in grave human rights violations.…

For this assignment I chose to use the yahoo search engine to look up information on Human Trafficking in the United States. There were approximately 12 links I could have chosen from that were related to human trafficking. I chose the Wikipedia link. Wikipedia gives you a more in depth definition and information. The definition Wikipedia provided read as: human trafficking is the modern form of slavery, with illegal smuggling and tradimg of people, for forced labour or sexual exploitation. Trafficking is the recruitment or transferring of people by means of coercion or abduction. In the U.S human trafficking tends to occur in California and Texas. They both have an integrated population, mostly made up of immigrants. The U.S Justice Department cannot give a definite number of how many people are trafficked into the country; they do estimate the number to be about 17,500. Those being trafficked are usually young children, teenagers, men and women and domestic citizens or foreign nationals. Wikipedia gives a little history on slavery. It also tells of a man named Richard Leonard Kuklinski, he was an imprisoned murderer. He descrived to a biographer that the ages of children trafficked are between 7-14, of both genders and two races. Another country that is one of the largest hubs for trafficking is Atlanta, Georgia. They have over 200 active brothels and more open each month. Atlanta has strip clubs and spas that serve as a front for sex trafficking. Wikipedia goes on to tell about the laws, bills, and national organizations hat are against any kind of trafficking. I would probably not recommend yahoo as a search engine. Often times it give you results not related to the intial search. I would recommend Wikipedia though. It gives you great information about your topic of choice and it also gives you other sites you can do research on.…

Human trafficking is one of today's most egregious human rights violations. Traffickers prey on the most vulnerable members of society: people burdened with poverty, disabilities and discrimination. Trafficking in persons refers to the illegal trade or "sale" of human beings for sexual exploitation or forced labor through abduction, the use or threat of force, deception and fraud. Sex trafficking is a medium of modern slavery in which people perform commercial sex through the use of fraud, force, and coercion. It is a crime and a huge offense to the laws the U.S. has set in place as a nation. Approximately 4.5 million people are victims of this crime a year; close to 800,000 of those people reside within the U.S. borders. Men and women under the age of 18 engaging in commercial sex are considered to be victims of human trafficking, regardless of the use of force, fraud, or coercion. Sex traffickers frequently target weak, desperate, and naive victims and then use violence, threats, lies, debt bondage, or other forms of control and manipulation to keep victims involved in the sex industry for their own profit. Many of these criminals have been known to lure in their prey with acts of love or attention to the effect that some victims can remain blind to their afflictions and enslavement for long periods of time.…

Abstract The purpose of this research is to explore the issue of human trafficking. Human trafficking is the illegal trade in human beings for the purposes of slavery, commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor. Trafficking of human beings is a major problem in today 's universal society. It has been identified as the fastest growing illegal commerce on the planet. The reason why I chose this topic is because not everyone is aware of human trafficking being a major international problem. Despite the effort of many associations and governments, people are still not alerted enough of this issue. I will be developing the causes of human trafficking worldwide and the reasons behind its massive growth. Who are the victims and who controls human trafficking? What are the hot spots for trafficking? I used several sources such as library books, databases and eligible websites. I found out at the end that it is the high demand that is behind the trafficking industry. More demand means more victims.…
Wow how do I even begin to explain my feelings after reading and watching the videos on the topic of human trafficking? When I read the assignment for this paper the first thing I thought of before I even went to the website was the movie Taken. In this movie a girl, probably around the age of sixteen, which is old compared to the ages the web page stated, was abducted while visiting a foreign country. She was then drugged and auctioned off as a sex slave. This movie was one of the best movies I have ever seen because of the emotional feelings it evoked in me. How scary would it be to be taken from everyone you know and drugged, sold, and rapped repetedly. I can not imagine what that would feel like.…
Human trafficking is considered to be the equivalent to modern day slavery. Even judging by the definition, human trafficking has a very negative term. Human trafficking, in many articles, is described as “the illegal trade of human beings, mainly for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor” (“Human Trafficking”). Human trafficking is becoming more and more of a problem and it has caught the attention of the UN. The UN is seeing that human trafficking is affecting the economies of countries and is morally wrong. One of the countries that suffers significantly from human trafficking is the Philippines.…
Debbie 's story is particularly chilling. One evening Debbie said she got a call from a casual friend, Bianca, who asked to stop by Debbie 's house. Debbie went outside to meet Bianca, who drove up in a Cadillac with two older men, Mark and Matthew. "So I went and I started to go give her a hug," Debbie told "Primetime." "And that 's when she pushed me in the car."…
