On November 1, 2012 the Oklahoma Legislature expanded OBN’s investigative authority to include offenses related to Human Trafficking. A question that the OBN receives frequently is “where might a person encounter victims of human trafficking?” The answer to that question according to the OBN is “Although the use of the internet is the primary focus of sex traffickers, commercial sex operations often occur as illegal brothels or pornography productions sites. These sites may be hiding sex trafficking victims by operating under the guise of massage parlors, escort services, strip clubs, or modeling studios.” “What do you say to a person you suspect is a victim of human trafficking?” This is another question that the OBN has received often in the past. The answer to that question is to ask them certain questions. Examples of these types of questions could be, “What type of work do you do?” or “ Are you being paid?” If a person is still not sure whether they are talking to a human trafficking victim or not, the OBN has a phone number that you can call, but they also say it is good to call
