Humor In The Miller's Tale

The Canterbury Tales is a collection tales, and there is a contest to see who could tell the

best story. There are so many great tales in this book and it is a very hard decision to pick

who's is the best. Most people in this world like comedy, and the Millers tale fit right in with

the comedy section. Another thing is that people usually do not like very long tales, the

Millers tale was not insanely long either. The Miller should win the contest for the best tale

because his tale was funny, interesting, and had very compelling characters. These are the

three reasons Why the Miller had the best tale and should win this contest.

There are many ways to make a tale funny, and there are many people that think thingare
funny that other people may not. But, what really makes a tale funny for all kinds of people?

One way to accomplish this is to include all types of humor in the tale.
Usually stories have only

have one humor going on whether that be stupid humor, jokester humor, accidental humor, or

just any kind of humor throughout the tale. Well in this tale, the Miller (the one telling the tale)

would probably be in the range of accidental humor. It just turned out to be that his take was

funny and he was acting funny.

First of all the Miller was drunk when he told the the tale, and everyone knows how drunk

people act, they are pretty funny. Just imagine if u were at a contest or an event, and the

announcer says next up is the Miller. Then you look over and see a potbelly drunk guy waddling

up to the stage then he starts to talk and he is slurring his words and is so drunk that he can not

even stand up straight, most people would agree that it is funny.

This tale was very interesting and I think most normal people can agree upon. So there is a

guy named John and Nicholas. John had this dashing, hit eighteen year old wife that Nicholas

had the hots for as would any other man at that time. Well, John had to leave for for a little bit,

so that means Nicholas and Johns sexy wife were alone. Everyone provably knows what John
is

going to do next, he starts to flirt with her and then he grabbed her. So she yells at the top of

her lungs for help like any other woman would.
Now listening to this story u might think that

Johns friend is a player or the man. Well after she stats yelling, Nicholas starts to cry like a child

cause he does not want John to find out! After reading that, everyone's perspective for

Nicholas probably changed.

Another thing that made this story even more interesting than it already was, is that when

Nicholas started to cry like a little girl. You would think that the wife would not care and would

want him get in trouble for what he did. But since the hit wife is stupid, she felt bad for him

when he was crying. She was just grabbed by him and now she feels sorry for him just does not

make since. So her next though was is that she wanted to sleep with him, totally denying the

fact that she is already married. But, there is a problem with that statement, how is she going

to sleep with him when she is already married to John, she would have to sneak around so John

would not find out.

This tale just keeps on getting more interesting and more interesting. So there plan to get

together without John knowing was to lie about a vision. Nicholas made up this vision that
a

flood was coming that was twice the size of the flood of Noah. Well John stupidly listens to his

best friend. Nicholas said that him, John and johns wife need to have three tubs ready on top

of a barn ready for Monday morning cause that is when the flood comes. Well they decide to

to sleep in the tubs over night , so on Monday Mir I got they will be ready. So, they wait till

John is completely asleep so the two lovebirds can sneak off into Johns bed where they slept

together. Come the next morning when John finds out, he sprains to the blacksmith shot to get

an iron rod to beat Nicholas with. All this news attracted everyone in the town and the people

asked what's going on and the two fighters replied they did not really know.

In conclusion, this tale is funny, interesting, and has compelling characters that just made

the tale a whole lot better. This contest should be won by the Millers tale because for these

things. This tale made this book a whole lot better, thank you Milker for being such a creative
