Hunting and trapping are good survival skills needed throughout the Hunger games, luckily for Katniss she already has experience doing both these things from being home, but now she has to apply them during the games. No matter how tough or scary the problem was to Katniss, she was able to conquer the issue because of the settings she lived in before the games. She wanted revenge on the Capitol for what they have been doing with the games, and the only way to do that was to outsmart the capitol and their game makers. Happily all of this is accomplished in the book, but without her wit about hunting and survival from living in District 12, she would have been just as unknowledgeable as the other tributes from the games. Katniss Everdeen of District 12 teaches us that just because one lives in a terrible environment doesn’t mean you grow up a bad apple.
