Institute', a health-care reform movement founded by Adams more than 20 years ago, sits on 310 acres Adams bought on Droop Mountain. There is a 6,500-square-foot workshop, a half-built Russian style dacha, a two-hole outhouse and a cottage with attached greenhouse. This has been one of the most significant career points of Hunter Adams. In his entire career he has been preaching and training medical students to develop compassionate relationship with their patients.
In October 2007, Adams unveiled his campaign to raise $1 million towards building a Teaching Centre and Clinic on its land in West Virginia. This plan of centre and clinic would enable the Institute to teach and have health care at the same time. Hunter Adams and his institute address the following issues: the rising cost of care, dehumanization of medicine, malpractice suits, and abuses of third-party insurance system.
He also serves as the "Assistant Secretary of Health for Holistic Health" on the Green Shadow Cabinet of the United States.
