I Got Life George Berger Analysis

George Berger sings the song “I got life” to the hosts of the party they crash. This happens to be Sheila’s parents who were sat down at the end of a dining table with their daughter. George tries to explain to Sheila before being kicked out that Claude is in love with her. Unfortunately the mother responds with “you must have some nerve!”. She does this because she believes George’s behavior is inappropriate and outrageous. She does not approve of her daughter being with someone like him, even though Claude is not a hippy, because of their rude appearance at their private party. Sheila on the other hand enjoys this attention. She watches George get on the table and sing his heart out. She is intrigued by their behavior and wants to be a part of it. She is bored of her parent’s classic ways and wants to experience the fun of being a hippy.
She makes a remark mentioning how George must have some nerve to say these things and interrupt such a fancy dinner party with his nonsense. He gets up on to the table to prove to her that not only does he have nerve, he is blessed with many other things. Some of these may be comical but other traits seem to have a lot of meaning toward the character. He mentions his crazy ways and million dollar charm to hint at the characters sly ways of getting what he wants. He may be poor but he believes he is blessed with things that help him stay alive. Even without money he can make the best of every day he is alive, which makes him one of my favorite characters. He is extremely thankful for his life, freedom, and good times and no one can make him think
