Idea of Beauty

My idea of beauty is that everyone is beautiful regardless of who they are and how they look like. You are only beautiful how you think you are, if you think that you are ugly then you are ugly. No one has the right to criticize others on their looks and bring down their confidence. Everyone has a unique quality that they themselves find beautiful and they should cherish and be proud of it. However, not everyone thinks that way. Perceptions of beauty are usually quite subjective as they only contain the opinions and preferences of one person and not everybody. A disadvantage of being physically beautiful is that other people will only look and judge you by the way you look and not really care and bother about what type of person you really are and your inherent qualities.

Society perceives beauty such that those people who are good-looking gets preferential treatment and popularity, thus leaving the average-looking people to fell ostracized and discriminated in the society. Researchers have found that good looking students get higher grades from their teachers than students with ordinary appearances, attractive patients receiving more personalized care from their doctors and handsome criminals receive lighter sentences than less attractive convicts. However, that does not end there. How much money a person earns may also be influenced by physical beauty. According to a study by the Federal Reserve Bank of Saint Louis in America shows that good-looking employees tend to earn five percent more an hour compared to their plain-Jane counterparts.
