Identities Between North And South America

North America is a historical melting pot of cultures and identities. South America is has great landscapes with snow covered mountains year around, thick forests, mesmerizing waterfalls and one of the world's spectacular mountain ranges. In my paper I will be discussing the regions of North America and South America. In the following paragraphs I will compare and contrast the physical features of the two regions, which include the location of each region and their proximity to bodies of water, deserts and mountains. There are quite a few similarities between North and South America especially with regard to their geographical features, but there certainly enough differences that distinguish them as two decidedly individual continents.
South America and North America are named after Italian navigator Amerigo Vespucci, who was the first European to suggest that the Americas were not part of the East Indies, but an entirely separate landmass. The Isthmus of Panama divides North America and South America. The narrow Isthmus of Panama contains the country of Panama and the Panama Canal. North America is the 3rd largest continent. Twenty-four countries make up the continent of North America. Mexico City, Mexico is the largest. North America is the only continent that has every kind of climate. North America's population as of 2014 is 533,215,000, making it the fourth populous continent. South America is the 4th largest continent in the world. It has its own unique social and cultural characteristics such as dialect, music, and cuisine. Between them, the United States, Mexico and Canada account for 85 percent of the population of North America. Religion in each of these countries is dominated by Christianity, making it the largest religion in North America. North America has a total of 23 countries. South America is comprised of 12 independent countries. In North America, English and French are the officially languages of Canada while English is the official language of USA. South American culture is the combination of almost the half of the culture of this world. This continent has its own culture that was fostered by the native people who were the original part and inhabitant of this great continent. Portuguese and Spanish are the major languages of South America while Christianity, Islam and Hinduism remain the most practiced
