The search for you innerself
In the novel An Abundance of Katherines by John Green we find how the need for social acceptance may often alter ones true identity. Everyone may have different personalities in different situations. Most people can actually forget there true self because of all their other personalities. It really all depends on the social group they'd like to belong to. I myself can connect to Lindsey in real life. Just like her I have a few sides to myself and they all come out at different times in my life, depending on where I'm trying to fit in. People change thereselves for the people they'd like to connect with. Lindsey has a special side to her she uses

is her made-up side that she decided to make to make him like her and also fit in with him. It was important for her to have a boyfriend at the time so she had to hide her true self and fake emotions because her and T.O.C. didn't have too much and common. She hated his manners and jokes but she liked that he didn't change himself for a single person and presumed to act the same in front of anyone he'd came across, that was something she wasn't capable of. The side Lindsey uses when she's around te elderly was the polite, innocent one. She always shows a great amount of respect for them and no matter how boring they may be she would let them tell her stories for hours and hours at a time, without interrupting them once, or getting annoyed. They all love her, as they loved her whole family, and they wanted her to always stay young so she could visit them forever, and they can't believe how fast she's grown since they've known her. You can tell they made her realize that she wasn't being her true self when they made her cry after all the compliments they gave her. She faded away from them though because she spent a lot of time with her boyfriend and her friends but visiting them was still a passion of …show more content…
the one I use most is the quiet me. When I'm in school I tend to keep to myself and stay quiet. I basically do it to give me an edge with teachers so that way if I'm ever borderline the teacher will like me and give me a second chance, or pass me, at least that's what I hope for, although I never wish to be in that sitution. I also use this side of me when I do things like go to church. I'm silent there because that's the respectful thing to do as I've been taught by god and my parents. Another personality I use is my true personility, my social side. I'm an energetic, loud, fun, outgoing teenager and I plan on always being like that at acceptable times, like parties and hanging out with my buddies. There the ones that understand me the best and I can always have fun with them, and I know in the end my buddies are always here for me as I am for them. It's the best feeling in the world having friends who I can just be myself around and not have to worry about being misjudged and what not. The last side of me is basically both put together. This personality comes to use when I'm with family and family friends. I am very close to them but there are certain boundaries I have with them that I don't have with friends. Family may be friends but I still have to keep in mind that there the parents and they can give me boundaries and responsibilities. There just two different

Identities are the definition of who we are, our peculiarities which distinguish us from any other entity. Our identities could be extremely complex, processing our ethnic group, cultural background as well as family status. However, it could also be defined in an abstract way, containing all the lived experience we have concealed and our own perspectives. Through the integration with others, based on a derisive self-perception, we may tend to disguise our true selves to search for approval. While we often attain to make a forceful stand for maintaining our own personalities, we are being true to ourselves even to the detriment to our sense of belonging.…

Personality is difficult to describe, but nearly impossible to define in a universally acceptable way. Throughout history many definitions of personality have been proposed but none universally accepted. This is because of the reality that each individual’s definition comes with a unique spin placed upon it by that individual’s life experience, surroundings, and personal viewpoint. Personality can be described as the regular presentation of certain traits and attributes that lend cohesion and uniqueness to behavior and thought (Feist & Feist, 2009). Although there is not a single, universally accepted definition of personality,…

However, there are always a select few individuals who will withstand the time to understand the other cultures, but can never explain it to the oblivious, being that they are just that; oblivious. One of the said few is Colin Singleton, the protagonist and of John Green’s novel An Abundance of Katherines. Identity is who we are and what our beliefs and values are. Our identity helps others to know more about us, helps them to perceive us as an individual rather than judging us on the basis of the groups that we belong to or the people we interact with. In spite of this, Belonging to a group requires various forms of change in a person’s identity, which in turn leave the individual with multiple or inconsistent identities. We realize that if it had not been for the existence of the people who are around us, we probably would have not turned out the way we are. Friends and peers have a positive or negative influence. We tend to hide a part of…

Intro; Imagine youre a child on a playground who is bullied. You feel rejected and left out. At home with your family you are comforted and warm, and you are able to play games and do what you like, be yourself. Although you do not feel as though you belong at school, you feel as though you belong. This makes you happy. You can be yourself and your identity is not lost when you are at home. Some could argue that this is personal happiness. However it could be stated that because you have not got a strong sense of a identity in the outside world, it is difficult to understand your public identity, therefore perhaps not even have one. Some have multiple identities for different communites in their lives. Humans are not meant to belong to every group there is, our likes and dislikes form our identity and who were are. In saying this, it is important to have a strong sense of who you are and where you belong, regardless of who this is and where this person belongs.…

Depending on who you ask, you will get different comments and views on who I am and what I am like. I believe I, as many do, have different personalities for different situations. Obviously, when I am in a place that I feel comfortable, for example, at school or with a group of friends, I will be my truest self. Whereas in less familiar scenarios, I tend to be a little less talkative and a bit more timid. This isn’t to say that I am a reserved person, only to signify that I am not as open in these said situations. I would consider myself a dynamic person with a multitude of traits. There is no set stereotype to describe my persona or style and that may have to do because I have underwent a wide range of experiences that molded me to be the…

They tend to be careful, self-controlled, and structured (Manning and Curtis, 2015). I believe I don’t identify with these traits because, in my opinion, they fall on opposite ends of the personality spectrum. I believe my personality falls somewhere in between these two. Of the four remaining traits I believe I most closely relate to enterprising and social. I am somebody who is outgoing and likes to talk to other people. I am very sociable and enjoying speaking up. When it comes to group projects I have no problem taking the lead. Although this trait may sometimes lead to me baring the brunt of the work, I have come to accept that. That being considered, I have also learned and realized that my ability to delegate work could be improved. I believe I relate to the social personality type because I enjoy working people and assisting them in their pursuit of success. I care about the welfare of individuals and try my best to help them. If they succeed, then in a small way, I have…

    2. What are some key personality features that define you? There are many personality traits that define me but I will give only some key ones. Intelligent, dependable, optimistic, independent, humble, reliable, honest, trustworthy, and persistent. These best describe me because I am an intelligent woman who has been dependable for my family and friends, optimistic and persistent about anything that comes my way that may be bad. For example: I was diagnosed with breast cancer on January 31, 2013 and instead of me giving up and saying I can’t do school and go through what I am about to face, I was optimistic and persistent that I could go through my treatments with courage and the knowledge that I could beat this and still stay focused and finish accomplishing my dream of earning a degree. I am independent because that is what my parents taught me and my sister. They said if you are able and not disabled to go out and make a living for yourself always be self sufficient and depend on yourself. I am humble for everything that God has allowed me to receive and accomplish in this life and never thinking that I am above anyone. I am reliable, honest, and trustworthy because I always was taught that you carry these traits for life. When people can rely and trust you then you can always be the person that they can go to for anything. Last but not least honesty was always instilled in me as a child. I was taught no matter what to always tell the truth and be honest with people and they will always trust what you do or say.…
