Holland's Model Of Personality And Occupational Types: Character Analysis
When analyzing Holland’s Model of Personality and Occupational Types I tried to determine which types I had the least in common with first. I think it is rare to find a person whose personality exactly with one of the six traits. Frankly, most individuals probably contain a piece of all six personality traits. However, of the six traits there are two I have identified that I have the least in common with: artistic and conventional. The artistic personality trait is described as individuals who thrive in artistic settings that offer opportunities for self-expression. They tend to be original, impulsive and creative (Manning and Curtis, 2015). The conventional personality trait is described as people who prefer highly ordered activities, both …show more content…
They tend to be careful, self-controlled, and structured (Manning and Curtis, 2015). I believe I don’t identify with these traits because, in my opinion, they fall on opposite ends of the personality spectrum. I believe my personality falls somewhere in between these two. Of the four remaining traits I believe I most closely relate to enterprising and social. I am somebody who is outgoing and likes to talk to other people. I am very sociable and enjoying speaking up. When it comes to group projects I have no problem taking the lead. Although this trait may sometimes lead to me baring the brunt of the work, I have come to accept that. That being considered, I have also learned and realized that my ability to delegate work could be improved. I believe I relate to the social personality type because I enjoy working people and assisting them in their pursuit of success. I care about the welfare of individuals and try my best to help them. If they succeed, then in a small way, I have …show more content…
I am currently seeking a BSBA in the fields of Marketing and Sports Management, with a minor in Organizational Leadership. I have a great passion for sports and hope to make a career out of this passion. I also enjoy marketing and selling myself. I believe my outgoing personality lends well to a career within marketing. The personality traits that I most closely associate with seem to lend themselves into the career path I am choosing. I would like to be in a position to lead someday, hopefully within the sports marketing field. I want to be able to connect with those I am working with and help them succeed. I hope to take what I have learned about personality traits and apply that in the future. I believe I am going down the right path and putting myself in the best position to succeed, and my analyzation Holland’s Model of Personality and Occupational Types, and subsequent self-evaluation, seem to support

I am very outgoing and sometimes consider myself to be very talkative, even when people tell me to be quiet I cannot help it. That is just the type of person I am. I like to be heard even if I am the only person listening to myself my brain is always running and developing new thoughts and ideas to discuss with other people. Whenever I am with my friends they are constantly telling me to be quiet because I never stop talking I just do not like it to be quiet. I feel that I am the life of the party I also do this at work with my co-workers I just like to talk I feel I have a mouth to express myself and be heard. Openness to experience I feel is another that describes me well because along with always thinking and talking I an very curious to know a little about everything. I feel that I can learn about different things forever, and that I can always learn how to do something I already know a different more efficient way. Curiosity never hurt anyone I believe the world is full of many mysteries and we must unlock and discover them to learn what they are. I also find myself building thing without the instructions not because I do not need them, but because I am curious to see if I can create what I am building without them. Even if I do not know something on a subject I will sometimes act as if I do because I want to see how gullible people are, and I also know many facts about everything so it is easy to believe me. Using agreeableness I would consider myself to be ruthless and soft-hearted why, because I tend to be easygoing and am kind to people I know, but if I do not know you I am not going to be nice to you. Do not get me wrong though even with people I know I can turn on if they give me a good cause to snap on them. People who hitch for rides I…

According to the Jungian 16-Type Personality I was given was ENTP. E is Extroverted, N is Intuitive, T is Thinking, and P is Perceiving. I’m overall innovative, individualistic, versatile and entrepreneurial. ENTP’s are clever, quick thinking and verbal, a devils advocate, and at times neglectful of routine assignments and projects. A people person by nature, ENTP does thrive in social settings and enjoying conversation and debate. After taking this assessment and applying it to my personalities I can agree that this was a rather true to life personality type assessment. Given this assessment I have applied it to my own personality and behavior and can see a strategic advantage to knowing this.…

Personality is a set of behaviors, attitudes, feelings, and ways of thinking that are unique to an individual. My personality traits are unlike others because they are unique in my own way. Around my friends I am outgoing, but around people I don’t know I am shy, timid, and I keep to myself. I have a lot of trust in my friends and family and am nicer when I am around them. Ladies & Gentlemen. Survey & Report. Some may believe that being “gentleman” or a “lady” in today’s society is an outdated notion, but others may disagree. (1) Briefly summarize the main characteristics of a well-rounded person, “l’u omo universal,” referring to specific sections within the excerpt from The Courtier which identifies these characteristics. (2) Create a “survey” based on the identified characteristics and “ poll” at least ten people to find out whether or not the characteristics are relevant for a “gentleman” or “lady” of today. (3) Tabulate and discuss the responses in terms of gender, age, vocation, etc. of your survey participants, making note of any interesting or surprising results which show up in your poll answers. (4) Finally, explain whether or not you agree with the characteristics expressed by Castiglione in The Courtier.…

I do not believe one can accurately sort individuals into these two categories alone, and fortunately the Careerfitter Career Test seemed to avoid this folly. In regards to myself, on a personal level I am empathetic and sociable, I relate to others with ease and take joy in being part of a team. I enjoy joking with my coworkers, I love meeting new people. But within or without the workplace, when faced with an issue, I am wholly pragmatic. I rely on objectivity and careful consideration to analyze and realize a solution to a problem. I derive great pleasure from seeing projects to their conclusion guided by the hand of reason, executed with thoughtful planning, and a structured process.…

After reviewing John Holland’s personality descriptions, I felt my evaluation with the O* NET profiler was correct. I am artistic based on my interests, need to be expressive, independent, open, and original (Niles & Bowlsbey, 2013, p. 70). After reviewing this list from Holland’s description of Artistic, I realized I fit this group in more ways than I had first understood. My list of traits could easily incorporate all of Holland’s examples. This was also the case with the social category according to Holland. I relate with traits like social, cooperative, sympathetic, and helpful. I think this grouping incorporates my interests and passions towards my goals for Clinical counseling (Niles & Bowlsbey, 2013, p. 71). .…

Based on the personality profile I completed in class my personality type is ISTJ, Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging. According to various sources on personality types ISTJ's are often referred to as "Inspectors". I agree with a lot of what I have read about my personality type. ISTJ's often give the initial impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold. This is perhaps one of the truest statements about me that I have seen. Many people find me to be cold and standoffish if not conceited and stuck-up. I prefer spending time alone, or with a few close people rather than go to parties, bars, or clubs. Very often when I go to the mall or other chaotic places I am over stimulated and overwhelmed by the people and the commotion. After an hour or two of such activity I feel the need to go home, it becomes too much for me.…

There are six premises that can be used to explain Holland’s theory. This theory states that most people have one of the six personality types which are realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional. These categories can be represented in the form of a hexagon which reveals the extent to which each of the categories link with each other. For example studies indicate that categories which lie close to each other in the hexagon is most possible strongly correlate with each other than those who lie at a distance.…
