Illegal Immigrants Citizenship Research Paper

Juanita is an illegal immigrant from Mexico. She works as a maid for a rich man and only makes $2.20 a day for cleaning bathrooms and keeping the man's house clean. Most days she works for 16 hours a day and only gets 8 hours to herself. Juanita sometimes works over night and gets a couple hours of sleep and sometimes no sleep at all. Her family of 5 all live in Guanajuato, Mexico. Her goals are to be with her family and have money to take care of them. Illegal immigrants are people who cross states illegally. Some of the immigrants come to America for jobs or a better place to live in. The U.S should give illegal immigrants citizenship.
One reason illegal immigrants should be given citizenship in the U.S because many families would be broken up. According to Schumer, “without reform, our immigration laws threaten to tear apart families” (Schumer 22). Therefore, the quote means they have a law that can break families apart. The law can cause families to go through depression and lose many members in their family. Another reason illegal immigrants should be given citizenship in the U.S because they can do a lot of terrific jobs. In addition, Schumer states that “people who could invent new technologies, create
jobs, and boost our economy” (Schumer 22). The quote means that illegal immigrants can help our community. They can do many good deeds for our country such as making things we couldn’t make or even create jobs we couldn’t create.
There are some people who feel that illegal immigrants should be punished due to them breaking the law. According to Steve King, “If we want to solve America’s problem with illegal immigration, we should punish those who break the law” (King 23). Some feel that the U.S should not allow those people who break the law because it is bad for our country. However, it can be clearly be seen that we need to fix our immigration system, to let more people who are helpful in the U.S. We should allow them to come because they do make up for the laws they broke such as they make our city better by bringing their own culture in the American culture. They make our culture better due to all their holidays and even their foods they make.
We should allow the immigrants to have citizenship in the U.S because most of the times, families are split and aren’t together.
Also, most immigrants are blamed for breaking regulations. In conclusion, immigrants aren’t bad what’s so ever. They do so much for us such as clean, cook, build, and even make things we fellow Americans can’t even make. Juanita can lose her family and she is criticized and accused of breaking the law. She took risks for herself and for her family. Her family gets the money she makes when it’s not even a lot. Juanita does her best to make her family happy but she can only do so much to do that. Juanita and her family should have citizenship because they would be a positive family to their community and they can be happily
together.
