Neutrophils & Macrophages play the main role in (SEEK AND DESTROY) the invading agents (microbes, viruses and other injurious agents) NEUTROPHILS are mature cells that can SEEK AND DESTROY agents even in BLOOD , MACROPHAGES begin their life as immature cells in blood called monocytes , when they enter the tissues they swell and become mature and named MACROPHAGES which are extremely capable of SEEK AND DESTROY intratissue injurious agents.
White Blood Cells Enter the Tissue Spaces by Diapedesis
White Blood Cells Move Through Tissue Spaces by Ameboid Motion
White Blood Cells Are Attracted to Inflamed Tissue Areas by chemotaxis
PHAGOCYTOCIS:
It is selective and occurs depending on especially three procedures:
1-smooth tissue surface or rough
2-is there or not a protective protein coat which isn't available in necrosis tissue
3-anti bodies.
BOTH NEUTROPHILS & MACROPHAGES have the ability to Phagocytize but MACROPHAGES can phagocytize more and bigger microbes.
MACROPHAGES AND NEUTROPHILS RESPONSE DURING THE INFLAMATION:
FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE:TISSUE MACROPHAGES they responde quickly not in large numbers but they are life saving.
SECOND LINE:NEUTROPHILS they invade the inflamed area, the chemicals in the inflamed area cause:1-MARGINATION the neutrophils in the blood stick to the capillaries walls due to changes in its endothelium.2-these chemical products cause the intercellular attachments between the endothelial cells to loosen up so the the neutrophils can pass though by DIAPEDIS.3-neutrophils are attracted by CHEMOTAXIS.
NEUTROPHILIA:acute raise in numbers of neutrophils in blood(up to x5) after severe inflammation due to inflammatory products that might have entered the blood, they cause the bonemarrow stored neutrophils to enter the blood.
THIRD LINE:MONOCYTES THAT INVADE THE AREA AND BECOME MACROPHAGES the number of monocytes in blood is low and so are the stored monocytes in bone marrow so the build-up of macrophages in
