Our day-to-day lives are consumed with our cell phones, We look at social media on an average of 5 times a day. We send and receive numerous texts regularly throughout the day, how many of those texts are relevant? What is so important that we have to text back and forth numerous times throughout the day. Some phone junkies are so addicted to their cell phone that if they do
not have it with them for any given time they will start to have withdrawls. They will start to shake, get the jitters, get headaches and sometimes even think they can hear their phone ringing. Phone Junkies are known to detach themselves from the real world, neglect their household duties and feel depressed if they have to turn their phone off.
Text messaging has completely changed our social life; we conduct a lot of our conversations through text messages, we talk to our friends and family members through text messages. We even track our friends by texting. Texting has taken over social interacting throughout our society, most of us who use cell phones regularly will text daily instead of calling.
Society’s communication skills are becoming one big text message. It’s easier to send a text message to someone especially if you don’t want to talk to them for fear of what they may have to say. If we want to break up with someone, just text them, and block their number from your phone. Wow, what does that say about our persona? About our mortality? We have become so self absorbed and selfish. Cell phones are changing the way we interact with each other and our expectations for social interaction.
