Diversity is recognising individuals are different in many ways including, ethnicity, sexuality religion, not just gender.
Equality and Diversity is a vital aspect within healthcare, it is the foundation for which effective, appropriate and safe person centered care is based on.
It promotes fairness for all, and gives individuals the chance to achieve their potential, without prejudice or discrimination.

This can be achieved by following the policies, procedures and guidelines set out by the work place, governing bodies, and by following government acts.
When working within a healthcare setting we are working with individuals that are already vulnerable, this can be due to old age, children involved it care or the justice system , learning disabilities, sight or hearing deficits, mobility issues, and neurological deficits, in order to promote equality and diversity for these individuals, we must promote the individual's rights through adhering to the Human rights act 1998.
This can be done through providing active support to encourage and promote individuals to manage their day to day needs independently.
