Indifference Is The Greatest Sin And Punishment Of The Holocaust
Elie Wiesel said that “indifference” is the greatest sin and punishment of the Holocaust. Elie might be inferring that the S.S officers’ lack of concern towards the Jews is a sin. How the S.S officers and other individuals see the Jews as insignificant objects that must be liquidated is the greatest sin of the Holocaust. Indifference did started the Holocaust. The Holocaust happened because of the lack of concern towards the Jews which that is a sin itself.
In chapter 2, the quote, “There are eighty of you in this wagon,” added the German officer, “if anyone is missing, you'll be shot like dogs (pg.22).” This line is a perfect example of indifference. The German officer’s views on the Jews has cost him to sin greatly. The Holocaust is revolved
