Indigenous people of latin america
Most of america was populated by indigenous people prior colonization, from deserts to forest. Each tribe fed off the land and survived in numerous ways. Of the indigenous people, there lived three different lifestyles. Non-sedemtary people were hunters and gathers. Semisedentary people who depended on farming in forest. Full sedentary people who build empires and depended more on society structures. Non-sedemtary indigenous people learn to adapted and survive living in difficulties environments such as deserts of Brazil. They roamed the lands and plains hunting and gathering for food. Non-sedemtary people didn't build empires. Instead staying in small groups with simple organization, wasn’t much of a society. Semisedentary indigenous people inhabit forest areas of america. While hunting was important for gathering food. Living in the forest allowed them to also survive from agriculture lifestyle. Being that the soil was thin in the forest, semisedentary people were only able to farm for a few years before having to relocated, also know as “slash and burn”. Semisedentary people were organized by tribes and gender roles. They didn't build empires or live by a social class. Full sedentary indigenous people lived in permanent settlements and had an complex society. They build empires such as Aztec, Incans and Mayans. Full sedentary people lived off permanent stable forms of agriculture ranging from fishing in lakes surrounding Tenochtitlan to bird droppings used for fertilizer by the Inca empire. Sedentary people being where classified by class and where know to specialize in war. Most of america was considered to be Full sedentary people before the encounter of colonization. The indigenous people were first encounter by the Portuguese in the early 1500’s. Portuguese at the time didn't really find brazil important for them at first encounter, wasn't much that indigenous people had to trade for.
