Indium Research Paper
Indium is a chemical on the periodic table that has the atomic number of 49 and is located in the crust of the Earth. As Indium is not the most known chemical to the everyday person except scientist, indium is used in various product such as electronic devices and other items such as mirror and melting by products. Indium currently cost 1 dollar to 5 dollars per gram, the chemical was found originally in Germany in 1863 and since then been found in Russia, Siberia, mainly in Eastern countries and Canada. Canada currently produces 1,000,000 troy ounces annually that is enough to make products such as glass, mirrors and silver items that use Indium. According to one article the most Eastern countries such as China, Korea, Japan and the Philippines refine indium, so far no drastic problem has come to play since the …show more content…
Since then the use of Indium has increased and is known for being in electronics and has continuously grown to be used in studies that possibly can help to understand the increasing rate of pollution and environmental events. Indium does not have a great affect on human health, it does have a low toxicity rate but can become poison if the circumstances are what is befitting at that time such as consumption. Little to no information is given about how indium affects the environment; scientist across the U.S are figuring the uses for Indium; the purpose of helping the Earth and to make sure whether it is harmful to the plants, air or soil. Lastly, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is an environmentally friendly way to recover, recycle and rid of the chemical/mineral Indium and gallium. Indium is very useful in the sense of the growing age of electronics, the uses of the mineral is growing year by year and the demand will increase leaving us with the possibility to discover the full potential of
