“Induction is the process by which the new recruit is familiarized with the working environment” (Aminuddin, 2008). Induction also known as orientation. Furthermore, induction is a programme that help the new employees to familiar the new environment and employee. This programme normally held at the first day of the new employees work.
New employee first impressions are crucial. If we cannot make the new employee feel welcome, the employee may choose to resign and look for a friendlier environment. “Introduction to co-workers are helpful in making the new employee feel at home and the purpose of an induction programme is to make the new employee feel comfortable in the work environment” (Aminuddin, 2006). We need avoids the new employees or employees leaving so we need has an induction or orientation programme.
The venue of induction programmes should be at the meeting room of the restaurant that easier our company introduce the environment and employee to the new employees. “The venue for most induction programmes will be a meeting or training room on site” (Aminuddin, 2006, pg.73).
The duration of the programme should be in two days, it is two hour in the first day, start from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and one hour in the second day, start from 9.30 am to 10.30 am. The first day we will combine all the department to have a basic induction of introduction of our company, environment and all employees. We would preparing a welcome pack to all the new staff to let they know more detail about our company, such as induction time table, company handbook, welcome letter signed by the director or chief executive officer, organisation chart with names of senior officers, function of each department, brief description of the Employees Provident Fund and the Employees Social Security Organisations, safety rules and procedures and also social activities.
