The industrial revolution was a time when production was booming, supply and demand was constantly being raised higher. An example of increased supplies “You are surrounded… With an infinite number of comforts and conveniences”(Document …show more content…
9). This passage is telling how in the new revolution, new apparatuses were constantly being made and produced quicker than ever. With this new availability of goods it produced more products for companies to sell and more possession for people to own. “… the factory is the best place for me” (Document 1). In this letter it tells how tons citizens are working hard to earn for their families and provide product to the general public. With the factory being a nice place to work, it made for a stronger workforce therefore supplying more goods. “Railroad travel was fast” (Document 5). With the new development of the railroads, companies were able to ship their products as far as the eye can see. These new railroads were able to move product quickly making everything more available to the populace. “In this well done landscape it shows a large factory, making merchandise” (Document 3). This factory not only contributes to the amount of goods being produced, but it also adds to the employment of individuals. With new up-and coming products numerous people were needed to make or use these revolutionizing contraptions.
During the time of the industrial revolution, countless new appliances were made to help the everyday households or to speed up production, with all of these new inventions a workforce was needed to create these things. A drawing from that time shows ”Clearly, in the landscape it shows a factory” (Document 3). With the creation of factories nationwide it gave more job opportunities to the surrounding population. Loads of these factories were built near cities which made access easier for copious workers. “…and if any girl wants employment, I advise them to come to Lowell” (Document 1). In this letter it describes a factory with good working conditions that would happily take young women to work. In the time of the industrial revolution, it was hard to find a job but here it is clearly shown that this company provides bounteous job opportunities. “In this picture it shows the new way of production, the assembly line.”(Document 4). The Assembly line was something that more than doubled production. Henry Ford invented the assembly line and used it in his own factory to make for vehicles, and to sell them for cheap so they would be affordable for everyone. The industrial revolution started an ongoing flow of ideas that just keep getting better. The advancements in technology in this revolution were life changing.
In this photo it shows “Cleary in the photo there is a tenement with windows and fire escapes” (Document 6). These improvements upon building were a huge deal. Around 1900s building regulation started to happen because if there was a fire in a tenement there would be no way to get out and often times there were no windows. After time cities realized that they needed regulation to improve the safety and quality of life for their citizens. “Railroad travel was fast. Going to San Francisco from New York City took only six days. Before the railroads, the trip took months” (Document 5). With the development of the railroad it was able to change a myriad of concepts in business and social notion of many peoples’ lives. In addition to communicative advantages, companies were able to ship products out quicker; places were able to get commodities from other countries quickly. In this time “[People could ] travel cheaply from place to place, and not only travel at less expense, but travel ten times quicker than 200 years ago” (document 4). Therefore, with these speedy methods of transportation people were able to visit other places and see distant family. Therefore, people were able to work jobs from a greater distance, see relatives easily, and explore new regions. With the times constantly changing and new things constantly being made, it would be close to impossible to keep
up.
During the industrial revolution the New Middle Class were the people who were living the high life. The industrial revolution was a positive figure in their eyes. They had new inventions, rapid transportation, and in time, child labor was illegal and children had to go to school. Even though there were hardships for the lowered class people working during that time, there are positive aspects that even affect us modern day.
