Ineffective Adaptation And Mr. Lockwood
An ineffective adaption choice would be that this movie lacks an introduction and Mr. Lockwood. Immediately, the movie skips right to the action, about twenty minutes into the movie Heathcliff is already trying to get his revenge and get Linton and young Catherine to marry. An effective adaption would be the special effect where it shows the first Catherine as a skeleton in the beginning of the movie but through Heathcliff's eyes, he saw Catherine as if she were just buried. Some effective adaptations are the choice of characters, I think the character for Heathcliff can really portray his intense emotion, sadness, happiness etc, and his dark side when needed. The character for Heathcliff also really shows the difference from the point he was poor to the point he became rich. The way his personality is changed but we know he’s still the same Heathcliff and the way he cut his facial hair and styled his hair. …show more content…
Her character is also very good at showing when Catherine begins to lose her mind. The actors of the first Catherine and Heathcliff really show their love for each other, it’s like they have been best friends for years in real life and it shows their relationship so well, it’s almost like the actors themselves have the chemistry and are going through their conflicts. An ineffective adaption (In my opinion) is cutting Nelly’s part down in the movie, she has a much smaller part. For example, when they cut out the part where Nelly and Catherine are talking about marrying Edgar and Heathcliff overhears, but instead Heathcliff says Nelly’s part and he runs off while Catherine and Nelly are talking about how her love for Heathcliff and Edgar differ.
