What I found most surprising this semester is the fact that occupational steering is a legit thing. I have always heard as a little kid from my grandparents how "they" try to keep minorities down and only supply certain people with certain jobs. Well to an extent they are absolutely correct, but the book really gives me more perspective and sheds some awareness in my direction.
2. How did what you learn relate to your personal work experiences?
I certainly have a relation to to role overload. A year ago I was offered a position that would land me more pay, but my supervisor would not hire anyone in my previous role, which caused me to have to serve two jobs at once. I found it very difficult to do both and had very little understanding in my position. I ended reverting back into my original position, as the stress was way too much.

It is about developing and understanding relationships on various levels. I would also add that the need to develop to your fullest potential is often contributed to your success level of work.
4. What do you now know about inequality in the workplace that you did not know about in the beginning of the semester.
The main thing that I've learned regarding inequality in the workplace is that it is all what we make it to be. We categorize ourselves into social classes, which is the main reason for inequality. Social Classes are groups within society defined by possession of different amounts of wealth and power. By having these classifications, we already begin at an disadvantage before we even get started.
