Imagine living in a society where you have zero individual rights, a place where you are unable to make any choices for yourself. Infernum is a small island off of Iceland, life is lonely and scary. The government oversees everything the civilians of Infernum and will give severe punishments to individuals who do not follow the strict laws. Infernum’s way of being successful has been instilling fear of disobeying and showing no mercy to a single soul. Violence has been how the government keeps complete control over its people and keep the people to be obedient. Picture being petrified to laugh at the wrong joke, to say the wrong thing or to simply not be able to be a unique human being. Marriage is out of Infernum people’s control, who they will marry is chosen at age 17; dating is not allowed and if caught, one will suffer traumatic consequences. Each married couple is allowed one child, sexual activity for pleasure is strictly prohibited which gives the government a clue that if a second child is conceived, the couple has engaged in unlawful sexual activity. Women who partake in such unlawful behavior are taken away and put into an all women jail facility to be punished, on the other hand men are taken from that woman and placed into a new relationship with no punishment. Men seem to be forgiven far easier than women when it comes to punishments. Women are to be perfect without flaw, physically and mentally. They are to carry the child for the family and care for them and instill the Infernum laws into them as they grow up to mold them so they do not break the law and not be an inconvenience to
