A different point of view on this situation is that people claim music is a positive influence. Truthfully that is the most popular opinion in today’s time, but some people are on the side of it being negative. A few years ago this topic came to the surface after a radio host named Don Imus went on air [and] called women on a college basketball team, "Nappy Headed Hos". His remarks about the women set off a firestorm with people calling for him to be fired. He in turn countered and claimed that he made the unsavory remarks because he was “influenced by rap music” (Davey). By that statement alone it only seems that music is mainly a negative influence instead of a positive one,…
A lot can be said by just what you wear. It’s once thing that people are judged on. “Support of the music industry and the individual artist and bands can be seen everywhere, one chest at a time. Music related or influenced fashions accounts for nearly a quarter of all clothing sales to teenagers ages 12-19. However clothing is the just the beginning of the influence”. (“How music influences your teen’s fashion”, Family.go.com). Its true that many artists have crated fashion tends such as snapbacks and tattoos. One rapper named Lil Wayne has his own clothing brand called TruckFit, which has trended largely in the last few months and it can be seen in schools all over. This creates many types of groups among teens and makes outcast. Teens separate themselves into groups based on music and fashion most of the time because we like to hang out with people who have the same interest as us. “White students who listened to ethnically diverse Top 40 pop music showed equal support for groups focused on whites, African Americans, Arab Americans, and Latino Americans.” (“Rock, pop, White power: How music influences support for ethnic groups, Eurekalert.org.). This relates to them all listening to similar music which will show in there fashion and cliques. It is nature to be around what makes you comfortable so humans seek out similarity. That is why the fashion among teens has…
Selwyn Duke describes on his periodical about the power of the music influence people. He states that if individual can be taught to read with rhymes and songs, then he or she can also learn the same way what is wrong and right. He mentions how music can be used to provide a positive education, such teaching kids on healthy eating habits. But, the most intriguing is how music and culture has impacted the people. How it intrigues kids from sounds that they have never hear and from things that they have never seen, such as a young girl might get a maternal instinct when she hears the sound of a baby crying. As the culture changes, so does the music because each generation finds the last generation music unappealing. The author also describes how each style…
Music, a defining aspect of Human culture for centuries, is influenced heavily by the social institutions of the time. This can be most evident in “pop”, short for “popular”, music. Music is a demonstrative language of culture. It tells a story, conveys ideas, opinions, and emotions of life experiences. Music has the power to link generations. In recent history such themes include Jazz and blues, the Big Band era, country, rap, and various other genres of music. Each of these classes of music are drawn from and represent the particular culture and time of the background of the artist or the events that inspired it.…
Music has been another defining factor in my life in regard to my cultural background. Many of my friends and relatives listen to artists that they feel they have something in common with, whether it is rap or gospel, it touches us all because the artists are coming from the same place that we are. Music…

The influence the internet and mass media has on cultures today. Most people in the United States listen to many genres of music. Depending on where you live, influences the type of music we listen to. For example, most people that live in the South will listen to country music. Country music has definitely changed from what it was in the 1980's to what it is today. In today's country music, one can listen to different songs that go from singing to almost rap like beats and rhythm. In today's times, people can get songs off of iTunes, Pandora, and even listen to songs off of YouTube.…

Pop culture has made an impact on my life and has been a big part of my generation. I grew up listening to a lot of music and watching plenty of television shows and movies. At the age of five I had become obsessed with Spider-Man, Britney Spears, and Disney Channel. I listened to music everywhere I went and always sang along to the songs I knew. My mom gave me an Avril Lavigne CD when I was younger and around the age of eight I was listening to KISS. Pop culture became a big part of who I am today starting at a young age, but I have a better grasp of what it truly is now that I am older.…
The human body is made up of many cells which form and create different tissues and organs within the body. Control and coordination are required to enable all functions within the body to work accordingly and appropriately at the specific times required. The system within the body which assists to control and coordinate the functioning of all the systems is called the nervous system. The nervous system works alongside the endocrine system allowing communication and coordination between the many organs and systems within the human body. This allows them to function correctly, and have the ability to respond to stimuli when needed. The nervous system has two main systems within itself. These are the central nervous system known as CNS, and the peripheral system known as PNS. The central nervous system is often referred to as the ‘controller’ within the human body; the CNS consists of the brain and the spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system is often referred to as the ‘reactor’ within the human body, as this includes the sensory and motor nerves, connecting the CNS with the sense organs, glands and muscles within the body.…
People do tend to adopt at least the attitudes of the music they listen to most even if they don't admit it. This is because a lot of people are not able to separate themselves from the ideas that are expressed. Music is different from other art-forms in that it penetrates the soul in a way something visual cannot.…
Pop music can be said to be always changing because the change from R&B to hip hop did not happen without a huge change like rock and roll and san francisco but when you say something is extreme the next generation will take it as the norm say when 80s rock and roll started making sex related music videos which was considered ridiculous today its everywhere my cousin who was listening to songs like stronger or E.t however her mom had no problem .One of the biggest thing I Seen arise is that it injected itself into our culture just like a virus from well dressed clean cut to leather pants and jackets and crazy cuts but it began with the beatles who simply got long hair. Or when KIss stated wearing leather and make up the youth followed proving that it was no longer anti-culture it was culture and changing america for better or worse.…
One problem in analysing a type of youth culture is measuring the extent to witch it is a response to a culture deliberately manufactured for marketing and consumption of cultural products. I would say to some extent all subcultures consume part of popular culture, but it does vary from which culture a person is apart of, E.G you can look at the Goth type of culture and think it not to be very commercialised at all. But I would argue differently, because Goth is one of the most commercialised types of culture in the world. The Director Tim Burton makes huge blockbuster films that have been filmed in a gothic style. So why is Goth not popular culture? The Hip Hop culture was discovered in 1970 's America, It involved a very unique form of dancing called break dancing, and was based on the genre of music called Hip Hop. Most people would argue that Hip Hop became commercial when the Sugar Hill Gang released a single called Rappers Delight, but I would argue that the Hip Hop style of clothing consisted of high street clothing, which in a way made the subculture commercial even when it was deemed not to be. My argument is that all of the subcultures we have are commercial but within the subcultures there is a sense of resistance towards commercialisation.…
Probably the easiest person to classify and what they are listening to is, baggy jeans with their boxers showing, saggy t-shirts and that lean walk. They could also be rocking a fitted hat and really nice Nikes. Some people would classify this group of people as "gangsters" who typically listen to rap/hip hop. Sometimes the way they act or dress is a little different depending on which they listen to. This genre is the best example of how fashion really comes into play with music, artists like Eminem or Wiz Khalifa both wear baggy shirt and saggy pants. People have to get there style from somewhere.…
I don't think rock music will influence young people in a bad way as such, and to be honest R&B and Hip Hop are more likely to influence people in such a way. But it's each to their own and people should be allowed to listen to what they want without restrictions such as different influences :)…
