Grooming is an important part of owning a dog. This is especially important for dogs such as the Shih Tzu, Lhsa Apso, and other dogs with long hair that becomes easily matted. When these dogs become matted it's uncomfortable for them and sometimes even painful. If the mats are allowed to remain, the often get so bad that the only option is to shave the dogs down. All dog breeds need a bath periodically, and need their nails trimmed. In some cases, owners tackle the job themselves, however, this is not always possible, or feasible. When dogs aren't groomed, it may be because the family where they live simple doesn't have the time to bring them to the groomer, or maybe the dog's human doesn't drive, and doesn't know how to care for the dogs coat and skin on their own.
