Skateboarding is a multicultural sport that can be seen in many different ways. The skateboard can be used in different ways for example:
• Recreational activity
• Method of transportation
• A job/ form of art.
Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years.
Created by California surfers in the 1950s. Skateboarding was a way to surf the concrete streets. The reason it became so popular is quite surprising. It rose this time with a more edgy raw and dangerous attitude to it. It rose with the more aggressive angry punk skateboarders that raged through this time frame. The image of the poor, angry skater punk came to the surface loud and proud. Interestingly, this only helped to fuel skateboarding's popularity.
Skateboarding is overall a large community of people that over time has grown and grown, skateboarders are also seen in a violent way due to the aggressive behaviour of a skateboarder. When someone goes skateboarding it is for mainly the same reason, to vent anger/ frustration and to learn new skills and enjoy the activities.
When you are in a skate park you see a large amount of people who all come together as one community. There are hardly ever fights and always encouragement. When someone performs and lands a new trick the skaters around appreciate it and clap (or as they do it bang their skateboards on the floor).

The government are an example of this. In America there a lot of people who see skateboarding as bad and try to protest against it like skateboarding on the sidewalks for example. As well as skateboarders having skate parks they also like to skate the streets which has been happening since it came out and try as you might you just can’t get them to stop doing it. Just look at history and how skateboarding has almost died out a multiple amount of times but survived.
Skateboarding will always be a big sport as there is nothing like the accomplishments you get from it, landing your first trick or after weeks of practicing that certain trick you’re trying to land you land it perfectly and then can do it more and more.
