I will be informing my audience about Premenstrual Syndrome, which is a condition that most women suffer from. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a combination of emotional, physical and mood disturbances that occurs after a woman ovulates, and once she begin her menstrual cycle the syndrome ends. As women we suffer from PMS without having any symptoms and some of us have all the symptoms. Men also deal with pre-menstrual style symptoms. Today I will inform you on the meaning, causes, symptoms, and treatments of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). Many of us have heard PMS all of our lives but do we really know what it is? The American Obstetrics and Gynecologist define PMS as “The cyclic occurrence of symptom that are sufficiently severe to interfere with some aspects of life, and that appear with consistent and predictable relationship to the menses. This takes me on to my next point which is the causes and symptoms of this syndrome. The exact causes of this syndrome are still unclear, but the causes could be related to the levels of hormones, including estrogen and progesterone which our body produces when in preparation for our menstrual cycle(wedmd). The symptoms vary from many different stages, and from individual to individual. Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) Lastly, despite the horror stories being told there are treatments for PMS .It can be treated by education, making changes to your diet, exercising, and using the right medications.
