Informative Speech Body Outline Draft
Specific Purpose: At the end of the speech, the audience will have general understanding of the process of screen printing, including a brief history.
Visual aid(s): Power-point with only photos of equipment and supplies. No text included in power-point with blank/black slides between each photo to allow minimum distraction from speech. Physical visual aid of film, screens, ink, and finished product.
I) Main Point 1: What is screen-printing? A) Subpoint: Screen printing is quite simple 1) Sub-subpoint: The passage of ink through a mesh or 'screen' that has been stretched on a frame, and to which a stencil has been applied. Currently, synthetic threads are commonly used in the screen printing process. 2) Sub-subpoint: Began as an industrial technology, and was adopted by American graphic artists in the early 1900s. 3) Sub-subpoint: The Japanese used who cut banana leaves and inserted ink through the design holes on textiles, mostly for clothing.
