Introduction: Living in the 21st century is a little dangerous. Our health or well-being isn’t really the first thing on our minds. I will be informing you of three different vitamins that could be beneficial to you. The three I will be discussing are vitamin b, c, and d. As always though, please consult your doctor before starting any new regimen. I am an Early Childhood Major; Not a doctor. Before beginning I have a video to start us off. In the US, Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death. In the year 2013, it is estimated that 450,000 will die just from Alzheimer’s alone. My grandmother beat Breast Cancer 18 years ago. She is now going down with Alzheimer’s. She repeats herself all the time. My mother and I are two of those 15 million caregivers mentioned in the video. I love my nana and I wouldn’t trade her for the world. I mention this disease because vitamin b has the potential to lower an amino acid called homocysteine, which has been linked to making your risk of Alzheimer’s greater. (Lisa Collier) Homocysteine results in a lot of grey matter on an MRI which is ultimately the brain deteriorating and thus causing Alzheimer’s. Studies of people with a higher homocysteine level were given vitamin b daily and their homocysteine level was eventually lowered by 23% and therefore reducing the grey matter. (Michael) The next disease preventer is about osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a disease in which you lose too much bone or your body doesn’t make enough bone and they become very fragile. (National Osteoporosis Foundation) If you looked at them under a microscope, the bone would resemble a honeycomb. They have no density or very little mass. People do not die from osteoporosis, however, it is quite painful if someone breaks their hip, and that could lead to problems. (NOP) Antioxidants are very good in preventing bone disease because it gets rid of the harmful substances that could lead to harming of the bones.
