Informative Speech On Breast Cancer
Perhaps you have seen the little pink ribbons that are on people's clothing, or maybe you have seen sports teams wear pink during game days. All of this pink is used to support breast cancer.Breast cancer is a disease that affects mostly women but can also affect men. Breast cancer is abnormal cells in the breast. Usually the body can replace bad cells with good cells but sometimes the body can't do this and tumors are built. There is no known cause for breast cancer except for evidence of family history, age of the woman, and the lifestyle a person lives. People who smoke and drink a lot might be more at risk. A woman or doctor might discover a lump on the breast. Inflammatory breast cancer is a kind of breast cancer that doesn't create a lump. It is in clusters on the outside of the breast. Women might find out they have inflammatory breast cancer because their breast looks bruised or …show more content…

A mammogram is a procedure that doctors will do to take a closer look at the lump or breast tissue. This is like an x-ray. If the lump is suspicious then a doctor will do a biopsy. A biopsy is when a doctor takes tissue from the breast and looks under a microscope to see if there are cancer cells. Cells that don’t have cancer are called benign. Malignant cells are cancerous. If the tissue shows cancer then treatment is needed. The treatment that is given depends on the size and stage of the lump or cancer. First, a doctor might do a lumpectomy. This is a small surgery to remove the lump. If the cancer has spread then a woman might choose to have a mastectomy. This is when the breast is removed. Other treatments include chemotherapy or radiation. These are two techniques that kill cancer cells. Environmental factors of breast cancer include: smoking, eating too much high fat foods, drinking alcohol, not exercising and being overweight. These are some of the treatments and causes of breast
