A mammogram is a x-ray of the breast tissue that detects cancer without symptoms; then a medical professional will request a diagnostic mammogram if their are any symptoms of cancer such as a lump, skin thickening, breast pain and even at times when women have breast implants. After a diagnostic mammogram is requested there will be more x rays done to extensively review the abnormality in the breast; this will give a physician better chance of diagnosing you properly.
It turns out that mammograms aren't always as reliable as you would think, because “Mammography is less likely to reveal breast tumors in women younger than 50 years than in older women. The pictures created by the ultrasound are called a sonogram , A breast ultrasound typically provide evidence about the lump and determines if it is a solid mass, a cyst filled with fluid, or a combination of the two.
