General purpose: To inform
Specific purpose: To inform my audience on the causes of the endangerment of sea turtles.
Introduction
Attention Getter: Over millions of years, sea turtles have played a major role by maintain the overall health of marine ecosystems.
Reason to listen: According to the Sea Turtles Conservancy, sea turtles have existed over 100 million years but numbers of the species are suddenly dropping.

According to SeaTurtle World, warm waters kill plant life, meaning no food for sea turtles, which slows down their metabolism and immune system.
B. Having to leave their habitat, sea turtles tend to become stressed easily.
1. SeaTurtle World states that when a sea turtle becomes stressed, this tends to affect their mating habits leading to the decrease in numbers.
(Lastly, over harvesting is leading to the endangerment of the sea turtles.)
III. Every year, tens of thousands sea turtles are killed which declines the sea turtle population drastically.
A. Poachers kill sea turtles for illegal trading and for food.
1. According to the WWF, sea turtles are harvested for their eggs, meat, shells, and is considered medicine in some cultures.
B. The two species of turtles that are harvested most are the Green and Hawksbill turtles because of their colorful shells.

Briefly summarize: Human activities on beaches have been destroying nesting grounds for sea turtles. The climate change has made turtles stressed which results into turtles not reproducing. Another reason for the their endangerment is because of over harvesting, which leads to tens of thousands of deaths of
