Fractures
A bone fracture is a condition in where there is a break or crack of the bone. A bone fracture can be the result of high force impact or stress on the bone Fractures can occur in any bone in the body. There are different types of fractures for example a clean break to the bone that does not damage surrounding tissue or tear through the skin is known as a closed fracture. On the other hand, one that damages surrounding skin or tissue is known as an open fracture.
This can happen in most sport but it is more likely to happen in a sport like football. Football involves in kicking, running and tackling and if not executed properly it can be fatal and result in a fracture for example if a player has the ball a defender would attempt to retrieve it. however if a defender does the typical slide tackle, and makes contact with the other player ankle or foot rather than the ball the pressure can be enough to break the bone. Eduardo Da Silver an arsenal player was a victim of a severe open fracture in his ankle due to a bad tackle by his opponent as a result Eduardo required more than eight minutes treatment for what looked to be a serious ankle injury before being carried off on a stretcher following a tackle from Martin Taylor. He wasn’t able to take part in football for nearly a year he was injured On 23 February 2008 and didn’t play again till 16 February 2009
