Apes are one of the most sophisticated creatures on the face of the Earth. From their advanced means of communication to their ability to craft a variety of useful tools, these attributes not only let them thrive in a prehistoric humanistic way, but also rule the animal kingdom. Despite their rich intellect the general public see apes as nothing more than feeble-minded, rabid beasts, some not even able to distinguish the former from monkeys, who are distinctly different species. Scientists, on the other hand have been conducting extensive research to discover what factors can be attributed to ape’s intricate way of life. This is because of their superior anatomical, neurological, and psychological differences that set them apart from the…
If you are a woman, consider a STEM major. STEM majors are those that are focused on science, technology, engineering, and math. Since women are less likely than men to choose these fields of study, there are many scholarships and grants available for women. These fields also usually end up being more financially beneficial after graduation.…

Science is a very difficult field. Anatomy/Physiology, Biology and Chemistry are some of the general courses of a science major. Despite the hardship, I have always done the best work of which I am capable. Chemistry seems to be the…
Working with the leadership team of the NorCal STEM Festival has allowed me to spread the excitement of science and technology. I hope to continue celebrating STEM through the Columbia Neuroscience Society and its work with the NYC Brain Bee. I love the idea of giving back to the community through education. Columbia provides a multifaceted education that combines practical, hands-on research opportunities with a diverse liberal arts education.…
The ocean. It cover most of the planet. And yet, we know virtually nothing about it. And even we can’t explore the entire ocean ourselves. That’s why we built robots to do it for us. The problem is that we can’t study the animals without scaring them away with our robots. That is where Puffy comes in. He is pufferfish themed, because of the fact that another fish like a pufferfish wouldn’t scare them away, right? You might be thinking, what if a tiger shark or something tries to eat it. Well, if that happens, the robot will be built to be bigger, faster, and the spikes sharper, as well as having a juice that will stun whatever tries to eat it. That way it would not hurt the animals, but only temporarily stun it so Puffy can get away.…
I learned in D.A.R.E that smoking and doing drugs can affect how you breath and it will turn your lungs a black moldy color. D.A.R.E helps you make good decisions on what to do if somebody asks if you want a cigarette or if they want you to drink with them. One of the things that I learned in D.A.R.E is peer pressure and peer pressure can be bad or good. One of the things that you feel when you have peer pressure is stress and what do I do. One example for peer pressure is if somebody cool asks if you want to smoke so that would be a negative feeling of peer pressure because you want to be cool but you know you get in trouble when your parents found out. A good example for peer pressure is somebody gets you to go and make a friend that you noticed they barely have friends so thats good peer pressure.…
2. Select your Primary Interest, and choose an occupation from the generated list that is closest to your long-term career goal. Save this occupation to your profile. (If none of these occupations interest you, review the Secondary Interest occupation list or choose another occupation under the Careers by Name section that interests you.) If none of the occupations interest you, choose your own to research.…
Even if pursuing a career, have you ever thought of just a couple of other careers you might would enjoy? I have chosen three careers that through my life I have thought about pursuing and am going to describe each job task in detail.…
Ever since I was a child, my interests gravitated towards the sea. I engulfed myself in books about marine life and knew that I wanted to work in the marine biology field. Throughout my adolescent life, these career goals never really changed, although I didn't know how to make my dream become possible. Then entering high school I knew I had to take certain classes to prepare me for what I wanted to do. Entering AP biology taught me a lot about different fields I could go into and I decided to switch my interests to general biology so that I could get to experience all the different types of fields there are. When I go into college I want to major in general biology so that I can open doors where ever I go and be happy in any job I get. If…
I would like to begin my answer by stating I am an indecisive person. I change my mind more than a politician does. Anyway, at the moment, I currently see myself pursuing a career in marketing with my post high school degree. I have always be fascinated and even entertained by marketing campaigns, from television commercials to print advertisements, and I am greatly interested in the psychology behind advertisements. A marketing agent is essentially one who studies human behavior in order to best sell a product, and, with a little work, I could easily see myself both enjoying and succeeding in a career within this field. Another career I could see myself pursuing is a biologist. I love science, and biology has always has a special place in my heart. The idea alone of testing and creating new scientific theories puts me in a state of euphoria, so, needless to say, I am interested in biology. There are other careers I am considering, and, like every other student, my tastes will surely change. At the moment though, I like the idea of a career in marketing or biology. Thank you for reading, and thank you for Saturday…
Throughout my high school career I tried to make it a point to diversify the activities I am involved in. I’ve participated in everything from french club to golf. I suppose the goal of being a well rounded person can never be completed because I’m a firm believer that everyone can teach you something new, so I want to continue to talk to people and be involved especially throughout college. Sometimes it’s hard to put yourself out there like that, but I think in college is about finding who you are so I’d just like the opportunity to challenge myself academically and socially. As for my career, that is in fact what I want, a career not a job. I really want to be proud of what I’m doing. The ultimate goal is to be a chemical engineer helping the environment and making a difference. I know getting the degree itself will be difficult because of the classes an engineering major must go through, but I’m prepared to do the work. I also realize it may take me awhile to work up to the job I want and waiting can be difficult, but I am determined to help make change…
