The women in the town of Maycomb, settle things by talking behind each others back. This makes for interesting conversations. Making women insiders. They usually talk to put others down so they keep their power. All the women that talk are white. They do this as a behavior to keep friends liking them so the don't turn out to be an outsider. They start rumors to make others feel inferior and themselves superior. At the tea party Mrs. Merriweather, a hypocrite, says," Hypocrites, Mrs. Perkins, born hypocrites." Pg.234 The African Americans of the town our outsiders purely on their race. Most of them are good hard workers, some even work for whites. They can never be nice enough or pretty enough to the whites. Tom Robinson was a strong young man who got in trouble for something he didn't do. The whites try to keep them down because they are afraid of what the blacks can do. They could take away their jobs or even become an insider.
Bob Ewell is a very dirty man that nobody cares about. He is very poor and lives neat the town dump. He is allowed to shoot out of season because he is so poor. He is drunk most of the time.
