Do you think that all the soldiers just carried physical objects? Most people just think that all they carried are guns and such. But they carried must more than physical objects. They carried intangible items. There were many tangible and intangible items they carry. But the most important items are the intangible ones. There are many intangible items they carry. But some of the most important are love, memories, and fear. The most important intangible item is love. With all the war and people, friends dyeing they had love to hold on too. Love is the most powerful feeling that someone can have. Without love they wouldn’t know what to do when their friends where dying. “Marry Ann made you think about all those girls back home, how clean and innocent they are, how they’ll never understand any of this, not in a billion years. Try to tell them about it, they’ll just stare at you with those big round candy eyes. They won’t understand zip. It’s like trying to tell someone what chocolate tastes like (O Brien 113).” With love they will be able to deal with death. And know that they have someone that loves them back home. Without them knowing someone out their loves them. They might not care if they live or die. But knowing that they have someone when they come home will help them know they can and will survive the war. Love is the most important intangible item that they can carry in the war. With love you believe and know that you will be coming home. Memories are the second most important item that is intangible they carry. Having memories are important to the family as well as the soldiers. Memories are important to soldieries. Without them they won’t be able to remember what normal life is. With memories they can remember what they are fighting for and who they are fighting for. Knowing why and what for will help them threw all the pain and stress they go through. “Twenty years, a lot like yesterday, a lot like never.
