Intelligence analysis is an expanding field that encompasses a variety of educational backgrounds and industries. As an intelligence analyst, you piece together information from multiple sources to learn about the activities of organized criminal organizations, serial killers, terrorists, drug lords and other subjects. Intelligence analysts are involved in the acquisition, evaluation, analysis and assessment of secret intelligence. They work primarily for the UK's three intelligence and security agencies and are also employed by the armed forces and police. Earn a Bachelor's Degree. An internship may be required. Some certificate programs are designed for law enforcement personnel, while others are available to a broader range of professionals and students. Here are a few abilities needed to have and are used in this career; Written Communication, Teamwork, and Oral Communication. You may apply critical thinking to generate hypotheses to determine crime problems, patterns and trends. Intelligence analysts work in a variety of fields, including science, language, business and law enforcement. You may work for local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and organizations, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations or Central Intelligence Agency. Intelligence Analysts in the United States take home an average $70K per year. Total cash compensation to Intelligence Analysts bottoms out near $40K and approaches $103K on the high end; the biggest paychecks include approximately $7K from bonuses and almost $13K from profit sharing. The employers of an intelligence analyst are the NSA, SIS, NBA, and the NFL. They usually work in office buildings that are owned by national agencies or the government or whoever the employer may
