1.1 Introduction of the report
This internship report entitled “Investment policies and analysis of competitive advantage by Bangladesh Commerce Bank Ltd.” has been started at the beginning of the January 2014 under the instruction of my honorable intern supervisor & instructor Md. Jahir Uddin Palas for the partial fulfillment of the requirement of BBA Program.
Bangladesh Commerce Bank Ltd. is a commercial bank but it has some differences in its formation compare to other private banks. Bangladesh Commerce Bank Ltd. was established by recognizing the erstwhile BCI Ltd. through passing act 12 of 1997 in the parliament of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh having paid up capital amounting to Tk. 92 crore consisting of Tk. 40 crore cash money paid by the government and 3 state- owned Banks and Tk. 52 crore of BCI depositors’ money. The commercial operation of the Bank has started since September 16, 1999 through opening of its principal branch and all other 23 branches were opened by 31st December 1999 with the slogan, “A People’s Bank with a Mission”.
Bangladesh Commerce Bank’s Board of Directors is formed by 11 members, 7 of them are nominated by the Government and the rest 4 members come from private share holders. This bank is a unique example of public-private partnership.

1.2 Objectives of the report
Specific Objectives
To scrutinize the investment policies of Bangladesh Commerce Bank Ltd.
To identify the competitive advantage of BCBL in the banking industry.
To submit report for the fulfillment of my BBA program.

Broad Objectives
To evaluate product & Service procedures.
To evaluate the performance of the bank.
To apply theoretical knowledge in the practical field.
To observe the working environment in commercial banks.
To know the overall functioning of Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited.
To have some practical exposures that will be helpful for my future career.
Critically analyze the functions and the operations of each level of the organization
