2.1 Human resources

Andrew Mackenzie is the CEO of BHP Billiton. He was born in Scotland in 1956 and completed his degree in Geology in 1977 and PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1981. He joined BP in the research division in 1983 and left after 22 years as group vice president petrochemicals. He became the CEO of diamonds and minerals in June 2007. He joined Rio Tinto in 2004 as the chief executive of industrial mineral division. He joined BHP Billiton in November 2007 and became the CEO of BHP Billiton in May 2013. The sales revenue of the company has been reasonably good as compared to 2016 and the group has also recorded significant profit in 2017 whereas they faced a huge loss in the year 2016. The figures of sales revenue and the net profit after tax from 2012-2016 are shown in the figures below.

The revenue stream of the group is diversified because of different business segments and its geographical positioning. BHP Billiton make most of its revenue from iron ore segment (38.15%) followed by copper (21.77%) and petroleum and potash (17.73%).
