Internal Conflicts In Amigo Brothers
In the story “Amigo Brothers”, the theme is two really good friends (Amigos) named Antonio & Felix from New York City. These two friends enter a boxing competition called the “Golden Gloves”. Felix and Antonio always took it easy in the ring when fighting against each other and not to take each other out. But then came the final fight in the championship and the two fighters left were Antonio and Felix. The two amigos knew this fight wasn’t going to be each other because they couldn’t be a draw and someone was going to have to win. Conflicts started to arise with the fight coming up. Some internal conflicts between the friends were not wanted to ruin their relationship after the fight and an example is in the gym they said just to separate

    Here, the novel reveals the unequal friendship between Don Chipote and Pitacio by displaying Pitacio’s exploitment of his host’s generosity. For example, Don Chipote offers his friend hospitality along with food and shelter as a testament to his kindness. Instead of expressing appreciation for this gracious gesture, Pitacio takes advantage of the situation in order to benefit himself. The fact that he tells lies to his friend in order to receive food for the coming days makes matters worse since he intentionally misleads Don Chipote. In this example, the text highlights the negative trait of dishonesty and manipulation that constitute a faulty and unequal friendship.
