International Delicacies
In order to successfully implement an online store for International Delicacies we need to have strong leadership running the process. Since our staff knows the business, the products we sell and have a strong relationship with the customers, we want to keep this type of activity in house. We will want to outsource the creation of the web site to a company who is an expert in doing this type of work.
We would want this company to work with our marketing staff since we are involved in the creation of the physical catalog. We would want to make sure that the online store reflects the same type of information that is in the physical catalog and that it adheres to what our customers expectations.
We would look at using the fast venturing model where we would have external equity partner that can offer the experience and skills needed to develop and scale up the project very rapidly. The company we choose will have the experience that we need for they have guided other companies in in creating an online store. I would recommend sending out 3 bids for this work before we actually commit to creating the online store. Part of the bid should include recommendation for a hosting service and the annual cost of this service.
Once the online store is up and running, we would want to be able to modify the contents from time to time. Since technology is constantly changing along with the languages used to create web pages, I would recommend that we outsource this piece also. If we do the online store right the first time, we should only have to make modification once or twice a year. When reviewing the cost of outsource vs hiring staff to do the work, it would be cheaper in the long run to outsource the modification of the online

Before we can get a system going, we have to look at some of the components we are going to need to make the system work. Kudler has a web site but it will need to be updated and many system changes to for a web based application to be implemented into it. "Internet and Web technologies present an attractive alternative for implementing information systems. For example, consider the problem of data entry and access by an RMO buyer when purchasing items from its suppliers. Buyers are typically on the road for several months a year, often for weeks at a time. A traveling buyer needs some means of remotely interacting with RMO 's supply chain management (SCM) system to record purchasing agreements and query inventory status".( Apollo Group 2004)In this case the internet wouldn 't be an alternative but part of the main process to allow the shoppers to access their account. There will be many things to consider in this process like a SQL data base and types of networks to use for online interaction to commence.…

ABC Corporation is a retail establishment that has attained a stronghold in the United States through brick and mortar stores. Desiring to increase revenue and broaden its customer base, ABC is currently entertaining the idea of entering the online sales arena. Allison Enright, (2012) Editor of Internetretailer.com, states that,” U.S. e-commerce sales accounted 5.1% of total retail spending, according to an estimate released last month by the U.S. Department of Commerce. It is the first time that e-commerce as a percentage of total retail spending has topped 5%.” These figures suggest ABC’s desire to break into online markets is both timely and fiscally sound.…

D & D online would offer a more convenient way for our customers to find our products with viewing and ordering from the web. Normally, customers would have to call an associate from D & D and find out when the next trade show, showcase, or large event D & D will be featured in attendance so customers can make their way to the venue just to see the merchandise. One main focus that would have to be kept is the same local, hometown business feel. Although D & D would be looking to expand out of the greater Indianapolis area, the focus that needs to be kept is the community. An online market would be extremely beneficial to the community and the business because the times are changing and more and more customers each day are transitioning to the online marketplace by shopping in the comfort of their own home. D & D is a community based business who believes in taking care of all our customer’s needs whether it is live an in person, or 2:00 AM on a Sunday night. We can only offer this kind of service with an online presence. D & D wants to be the company a customer can count on anytime. Being part of an online environment will be a large part in making that a reality. As a business, we must ask ourselves is this a venture that will be successful for us? Given the type of market that our company is tapping into, we have the ability to be very successful. The quality of products that we offer along with our competitive prices will give us the competitive advantage over other similar small companies as even over some larger companies as well. Establishing D & D in an online environment against competition in the same type of business will force us to be aware of all that is going on with our competition. This way, we will able to compete with the larger companies like a JCPenny or Sears and the smaller businesses like D & D that have been in the online environment for a long time. We will…

With the rapid growth of e-business it is no small wonder why businesses today are taking advantage of the online market. The overall convenience and lack of complexity with buying products and services online has converted most of the public to shopping via the internet. Any business that sells a service or product must strongly consider the fact that being without a website or means for the public to shop online will only hinder the business’ profits and any chance for future development. Many small businesses are realizing first hand that the lack of e-business will ultimately make their companies obsolete.…

To achieve profit in an online environment they could create a website that allows people to browse through products, to also allow delivery of products to a specified location and to check availability of products. This is very important for Crystal Lake Thriftway as this is an entirely new program for this store. It seems best for the store owner to tryShopify.com and to allow the website to be “designed” this way until employees and customers are familiar with the new shopping process. It allows for customers to feel secure in their online payment transactions. Shopify also offers a design “expert” in the event that the store owner and management need assistance in designing the website when linking it to their existing advertising website (Shopify.com, 2013). The prices range from a “starter” website at a cost of $14 per month to a “professional” website at $179 per month. There are no setup fees; there are no contracts; the store can use their own domain name; and the website can be cancelled at any time (Shopify.com, 2013). Finally, Shopify even offers apps at various prices to tie in with the store’s website and marketing (Shopify.com, 2013). This will enable Crystal Lake Thriftway to tie the app directly to the website to give customers…

Open Market Inc., founded in 1994 by David Gifford and Shikhar Ghosh, was a company that planned on developing an online shopping mall where shoppers would pay a membership fee for access to the “mall”. The merchants who were members would buy Open Market software and pay a small fee for every online transaction. After the first fiscal year, the total sales of all the merchants were very low in comparison to projections. Open Market then decided to focus on producing custom developed e-commerce applications which cost between $250,000 to $1,000,000 dollars. In 1995, Gary Eichorn joined Open Market Inc. as the new President and CEO. After Eichorn joined, Open Market began broadening their target market and product lines in order to attract more merchants. In 1996, Open Market introduced Transact at a price of $250,000 and was receiving favorable reviews. Soon after, Merchant Solution was another product that was created for smaller merchants and was priced at $20,000, although this was a good idea, the product did not sell and was discontinued. Open Market came to the realization that they must either acquire companies that have had success with small merchant store fronts or they have to develop a new system that was more cost-effective for these merchants. From here, Open Market began integrating their two strategies in order to acquire the smaller companies, integrate them with Open Market’s software, and to partner with a company who could handle mass distribution for the Folio line.…
