Interracial Relationships
A person’s skin color should not matter when it comes to love. You cannot help who you fall in love with whether they are African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, or any other race. Some people don’t approve of interracial relationships but people are people and we are all equal, so I don’t understand why skin color matters. I believe people should not judge couples that are in an interracial relationship and just keep their opinions to themselves because interracial relationships are getting more and more common. Older generations are more against interracial relationships because they were raised to not date outside their race and they obeyed what their parents said or they thought that they would be frowned upon. Our generation now is more open minded to interracial relationships. The people from our generation now don’t like the fact that the older generation will stare if they are in a interracial relationship or they will gossip or they will just be disappointed in you but times are changing and being with someone of a different race is really not that big of a deal. I can relate to people who feel discriminated against if they are with someone of a different race. I dated an African American boy my senior year of high school. It was the first time I had ever dated an African American. I was afraid to tell my parents because I did not know what they would think but I had already met his family and they were very nice to me and happy to meet me and did not judge me at all. When I told my mom that my boyfriend was black she was not too happy but she was not upset with me. She just told me that my dad would probably not accept it. My boyfriend really wanted to meet my family so it took me awhile to work up the nerve to ask my mom and dad if he could come over and have dinner and watch a movie.
