Spiritual Gifts Paper

PART ONE: What are your top two spiritual gifts? Do you agree with the results? Why or Why not? My top two spiritual gifts are; Evangelist, Pastor/Shepherd. I agree with the results because I have grown up in church I was a nine month before birth in the church kind of child. There have been many people I look up to. One person I really look up to is my youth pastor. From my tenth grade year I had this youth pastor. In my eleventh grade year he had this conversation to me about a certain situation. Because of this conversation it has brought me to be so much closer in my walk with Christ that i was before. I also want to be able to impact peoples lives just as my youth pastor did. As I continue on this Christian journey, I pray that God will lead me where I can be used by God to help people daily. There is, no better gifts than the gifts from God. I truly love telling people about Him.
PART TWO: Specifically, how can you use your gifts at this time? How might you misuse your gifts? My gift of evangelism is a special gift given by the Holy Spirit to certain members of the Church to share the Gospel with unbelievers in such a way that the believer becomes a disciple of Jesus Christ. My gift of evangelism includes; joyful speaking to others about Jesus Christ; knowing when a person is ready to accept Jesus Christ; have a strong burden or compulsion to speak to people about their need for Christ; being happy to share how Christ has brought him to Him; being able to explain clearly the meaning that Jesus Christ is Savior, and continually seek out unbelievers in order to win them to Christ. My gift of evangelism can be used for: calling on visitors in Church; neighborhood witnessing; distributing tracts; serve on Evangelism Committee; create an opportunity or ministry for the gift.     This laboratory is based on a series of famous experiments that were conducted in the 1960’s along the rocky shore of Washington state, in the northwestern United States…The nine species in this laboratory’s simulated rocky intertidal area include three different algae (including one you may have eaten in a Japanese restaurant); three stationary (or “sessile”) filter-feeders; and three mobile consumers (Keystone Predator Student Workbook). In this simulation there are nine different species. The Nori Seaweed, Black Pine, Coral Weed, Mussels, Acorn Barnacles, Gooseneck Barnacles, Whelk, Chiton, and Starfish. The Nori seaweed, Black Pine, and Coral Weed are all algae, which means they live in damp environments and are plant like and have chlorophyll. Having chlorophyll they make their own food through photosynthesis, the fact they can make their own food makes them autotrophs or producers, and are the lowest on the trophic level. The Acorn barnacles, mussels, and gooseneck barnacles are the filter feeders of this environment they do not move. They are the herbivores of this environment and the primary consumers on the trophic level. The whelk, chiton, and starfish are the only mobile species in this environment. Also they are the only carnivores in the environment and are secondary consumers on the trophic level.…

    One of the first things we did in this class was evaluate ourselves and learn what we have been gifted with by God as far as Spiritual Gifts. I think this was a very valuable process because it made us think about ourselves and what we feel have been things important and well experienced in our lives. After this process, we shared these different gifts with the class and this was a real turning point. For most people who never do the Spiritual Gifts Inventory process, they may never fully understand how God can use their gifts. I am not saying they can’t use their gifts or that they won’t know what they are, they would just have a greater appreciation for those abilities and gifts if they recognized them. This is where Christian service comes into practice. Since we all have different gifts, we can use them in different ways to approach Christian service and sharing the love of Christ to everyone around us. Some people might have the gift of Pastor, Giving, Hospitality, and Miracles. Others might have more or less or a different combination of the gifts we recognized in the process. I think this is how we can take ownership of the World around us the process of Christian service. I mean, how boring would life be if we were all only good at the same things and didn’t have any variation, REALLY BORING! As we discussed in class that every person has their own narrative in life, this is really a little part of our narrative, which in all reality should be a big part of our narrative. As Paul said in Romans 12:16, “God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well,” we need to use these gifts to the fullest in Christian service to those around us.
