INTRODUCTION
1.1 INTRODUCTION
At the present time, education is a very important and necessary thing. Most people make an effort to gain high education in order to get good chances and have a better life. Some people prefer to continue their studies locally, while many others choose to study abroad. There is no wrong choices. Study local or abroad, both have its own advantages and disadvantages.
It has becomes a popular trend among the community to send their children to study overseas as for them our local universities do not have the international quality of education and poor in facilities. But, this perspective is not all correct. First of all, this is because our local universities have improved tremendously from year to year. Moreover, Malaysia has been awarded as the education hub for higher learning which has countless of public and private universities with many foreign students. This shows that the foreigners trust our quality of education more than ourselves. This can be proved by the article reported by R.S.Kamini in the “New Sunday Times” newspaper on December 23,2012 that claimed University Technology Petronas(UTP) had been given 5-star rating. This is due to the fact that UTP was assessed for its researched and innovation achievement from eight different perspectives, which are Quantity & Quality of Researchers, Quantity & Quality of Research , Quantity of Postgraduates, Quality of Postgraduates, Innovations, Profesional Services & Gifts and Networking & Linkages.
Next, local universities also provided the qualified lecturers including lecturers who from overseas. All the lecturers are hired based on their experiences which must be at least 5 years in education field. Furthermore, most of the academic programs are received full accreditation from Malaysian Qualifications Agency who formerly known as National Accreditation Council. Thus, our local universities actually have the capability in producing many successful students like doctors, teachers, bankers,

    However, this is an assumption. According to Cleary’s article, there are indeed glaring disadvantages to studying abroad. Firstly, the cost of pursuing higher education overseas is very high. In Australia, the cost alone for an undergraduate degree for international students range from $15k-$30k annually as compared to its fees for local students at $7k-$10k. This is not even including the cost of living the student would incur overseas. The significantly higher fees for international students is definitely a huge factor of how studying abroad may not be the ideal choice for everyone. Furthermore, governments and institutions are starting to implement policies to ensure that local universities still appeal to their locals. This can be seen by student exchange programmes set up where students get to experience education in a different country for one or two semesters while still paying local university fees.     Many students who go overseas to study every year have more experience of studying in another country. Although many benefit from the experience, others go home disappointed. Studying abroad has certain advantages such as good education, international certificate, excited living, but it also has disappointed such as language, culture shock and expensive fees.
