A. Background of the Study Retention policy are set of guidelines in which a certain school follows a minimum grade for accountancy students in order for them to advance to the next level. It is like the survival of the fittest. It requires a lot of focus and determination, which other students in the course failed to give. And when that happens, these students are removed from the program. That is why many Accounting students hate this policy. Even so, the primary goal of the retention policy is to heighten the standards of the course syllabus of the program. It is approved in order to challenge and improve the performance of the accounting students. And so, the purpose of this research is to show to the students the effects of the retention policy to the academic performance of Accounting students.
B. Statement of the Problem
1) What are the effects of the retention policy to the Accounting students’ performance?
2) Why is there a need to have retention grade for Accounting students?
3) How does it develop the Accounting students’ productivity?
C. Hypotheses
The Retention Policy has no significant effect to the academic performance of Accounting students.
The Retention Policy has a significant effect to the academic performance of Accounting students.
D. Significance of the Study
1. ACCOUNTING STUDENTS The research output will be beneficial to Accounting students because it will make the accounting performance and thus, show the importance of Retention Policy. This research aims to show them the reasons why there is a need to have a Retention Policy for them.
2. TEACHERS This research will be beneficial to teachers as well because it will show them the importance of Retention Policy, thus they will be more precise and careful in computing the grades of students.
3. PARENTS/GUARDIANS
The research output aspires to be of benefit to the parents of accounting students because it will show them the effects of the
